California Transparency in Supply Chain Act Statement

The California Transparency in Supply Chains Act of 2010 -(SB 657) came into effect in the State of California in the United States on January 1, 2012. This law requires retail sellers and manufacturers doing business in California to disclose their efforts to eradicate slavery and human trafficking from their supply chains. MSI hereby declares that MSI and our direct supply chain do not use coerced or involuntary labor (including prison labor), and are not involved in slavery and human trafficking. MSI strives to ensure there are no human rights violations such as child labor, discrimination and forced labor in our supply chain. We have taken the following actions to ensure compliance with these principles and declarations:

    Risk Assessments
  • MSI conducts supply chain risk assessment by evaluating our suppliers on their factory location and risks, self-assessment performance, working conditions, and compliance with applicable laws and international standards, including non-involvement with slavery, human trafficking, forced labor, or child labor.
    Auditing
  • MSI's supply chain management works closely with our suppliers. We conduct audits of product, material, or component supplier facilities after discussing and obtaining permission from such parties. MSI implements the RBA's VAP audit model which allows us to observe any discrepancies in our suppliers ’implementation of their social and environmental responsibilities. We discuss and work with our suppliers to enhance practices and improve our products.
    Declaration
  • We require all component and material suppliers to sign our Declaration of Corporate Social Responsibility Requirements and to demonstrate compliance with MSI standards in human rights management (including but not limited to slavery and human trafficking), and that their workers are treated with dignity and respect.
    Supplier Training
  • In order to ensure our suppliers remain up to date on the latest international human right standards, MSI holds symposiums, supplier conferences, and digital meetings via multiple communication channels on an unscheduled basis to communicate, educate, and provide MSI's CSR policy to our suppliers. During these sessions and communications, we highlight the RBA code of conduct requirements, and further expressly forbid practices such as use of forced labor, bonded labor, or involuntary prison labor in the recruitment process. We will continue to communicate and cooperate with our suppliers to improve human rights and social issues.
    Internal Accountability
  • MSI is committed to ethical and socially responsible conduct in the workplace. All of our staff must adhere to our code of business ethics and conduct, which requires compliance with all laws (including laws related to slavery and human trafficking), and corporate policies and practices. Further, our staffs are responsible for notifying management and taking corrective action procedures when they believe there is a a violation of the code. Serious violations may result in disciplinary action up to discharge.
